Wayward Junction 3

By Alfred Barten

Wayward Junction 3 is a minor update to Wayward Junction 2. The key change is the addition of a turnatable and roundhouse. The turntable lets you turn stem locos for sending back out in the direction from which they came. Admittedly, the tank locos run backwards as well as frontwards, but the 2-8-2 locos with tenders are definitely more appropriately run forward.

While I was at it, I loaded the updated route and session into a newly installed copy of Trainz Simulator 2009. Once installed, I selected the route and session in CMP and requested a Download (do this by selecting the two with the right mouse button and selecting Download from the pop-up menu; you will also need to then click the Start button in the left-side panel).

WJ3 (and, I presume, previous versions) runs fine in TS2009. There are some additional assets you will need that are not at the Trainz Download Station (DLS).

Here is a list of what's needed and where to find these items.

KUID 370528:xxxx -- These are the animated figures at the Russian Railroad-Club site -- see John D'Angelo's article on how to get them.

KUID 44700:27995 -- This is the Blacksmiths Hut on Skids by Peter Pardoe-Matthews available at Sirgibby’s TrainZone.

KUID 96914:xxxx -- These are 30” narrow gauge cars and locos at SubPar Productions (Ben Neal) web site (might as well get them all).

KUID 1816722:xxxx -- These are cars by David111767 at the 30ng Trainz: The Two and A HAlf Men website (might as well get them all).
Wayward Junction 3, like its forbears, is available for free download at the VR Downloads page.

Be sure to read the original article for an understanding of the route concept and operation.

Cheers,

Al
