Payware for Trainz (Continued)

By John D'Angelo

Although VMD primarily carries diesel locomotives, they also have available a beautiful New York Central K5b 4-6-2 Pacific locomotive. The detail on this locomotive, which was created by Marlboro, is exceptional. Even the engineer is animated to the extent that when the locomotive pulls to a stop, the engineer opens the window and leans out to look ahead. The locomotive costs $10.00

VMD New York Central K5b by Marlboro.

There is also a beautiful green Southern Crescent Limited 4-6-2, by Marlboro, available from VMD for the same cost, $10.00.

Magicland’s Broadway Limited.

For a number of years, Magicland has supplied freeware to the DLS, and his beautiful Pennsylvania Railroad passenger cars have been a favorite. Magicland also has his own website, Protrainz, with both freeware and payware available.

His payware version of the Broadway Limited, seen in the above picture, is a complete train. I am including the description of what is included from his website:

The Pennsylvania Railroad's Broadway Limited, one of the World's finest trains. The Postwar lightweight Broadway Limited has features such as visible passenger support, animated doors, autonumbering, autonaming, night mode, and much more. The car numbers and names have been painstakingly researched and are prototypically correct, and everything has been updated to ensure complete compatibility with TRS2006. A typical (1957) consist would consist of a BM70m Baggage-Mail Car (except on Sundays, when there was no mail), 21 Roomette, 21 Roomette, 10-6 Sleeper, 12-4 Duplex Sleeper, PS5LA Lounge, Twin Diner/Kitchen/Dorm cars, 4-4-2 Sleeper, 10-6 Sleeper, 12-4 Duplex Sleeper, 10-6 Sleeper, 4-4-2 Sleeper and a POS21 Observation Car. We've even included the AT&SF; 4-4-2 sleeper which would occasionally provide through service from the west coast. It would commonly be pulled by E8's (West of Harrisburg) or a GG-1 (East of Harrisburg). The E8 is included for convenience (it's also available on Auran's Download Station, where you'll also find all the GG1's).
Now THAT is a train! The entire train can be purchased from his website for $10.00. Magicland also has a Protrainz Gold membership program that you might be interested in.

Paulz Trainz United Central roster.

And last, but not least is PAULZ ....... TRAINZ. Paul Mace’s website contains a multitude of payware locomotives for many countries.

One of the pleasures of dealing with Paul is that he will work very closely with his customer. My favorite route is the United Central, which is my own creation, and I run equipment lettered for the United Central. The diesel equipment for the route was created by me using Trainz Paintshed. Since Paintshed does not have steam train creation ability I have ordered locomotives lettered for the United Central from Paul, and he was only too glad to letter them for me. Here are a few pictures of his work:

United Central 4-6-2 $10.00.

United Central 2-8-8-4 $10.00.

Paul is currently creating a model of the New York Central 4-6-4 Hudson. I have placed an order for that in advance. He has already released a model of the streamlined NYC Hudson and I use it to pull Magicland’s 20th Century passenger cars. It has been, and will continue to be a pleasure dealing with PAULZ ....... TRAINZ.

I guess that about wraps it up. If you are interested in purchasing any payware be sure to check the Auran Trainz Forum’s payware section where you may find what you want.

Happy Holidays

John
