Amazing Animated People for Your Route!

By John D'Angelo

My mouth is STILL wide open as I look at people walking up and down my train station platforms, work in my train yards, and do numerous things. I still cannot believe how a talented animator has created such an array of animated people for Trainz. They are used as individual objects and can be placed on your route anywhere you want, and then go through preprogrammed movements that will astound you.

Have I gotten your attention yet? Let’s take a peek at what I’m all excited about. Here is a picture of my animated work crew:

These three figures are all individually animated. The man on the left is smoking a cigarette and moves his arm up and down as he puffs, then turns his head from side to side. Note the facial detail. The second man raises and lowers the tamping rod and the third man swings his sledge in his hand. They are treated as scenery objects and can be placed and raised or lowered when you work in Surveyor.

But wait, there’s MORE! LOT’S more. These three men are only a small part of the animated people pack that on one download will give you men, women and children who can perform many different activities. Let's take a look at a few of the "walkers."

Animated walking people in Surveyor mode.

These are only a few of the people in this view. You place them, rotate or raise and lower the paths they walk on, and let them do their thing. They start from the end square, walk the path, then at the hook end they will perform an action such as the woman dropping the bags. She will then pick up the bags, turn back and walk back to the beginning marker, turn and start over again. The paths are visible in Surveyor to help placement, but are invisible in driver mode.

There is one slight catch. They are not at the Trainz Downlaod Station (DLS) but are available from an outside site…Russia! The file for the complete set is free, but is large, about 13 megabytes and is in “RAR” format. You will need a program like WINRAR to open the file and create the CDP for installation. They installed perfectly into my version of TRS2006.

Be prepared, since this is a LARGE file around 13 megabytes (packed) with 70 objects. If you do not have a high speed Internet connection downloading will take a long time. When you go to the download site, which is the Russian Railroad Club Site, a lot of items will be in Russian, but it’s easy to get the file as it is at the top of the listings:

I want to thank Neoklai (Neoklai75) for creating these wonderful people. Clearly these animated persons will bring life to your Trainz route and give you untold opportunities for great scenes. Have a great time moving your folks around!
