Welcome to VMR Journal. Each month we'll cover items of interest to the train simulation fan, free of charge. Stop back often to see what's new. There's no catch. We don't track visitors or compile lists for sale. We're hobbyists just like you, and we're here to share just as so many of you are doing. We do record the number of hits to see how we're doing.

What's in a name?

For those new to train simulation, VMR stands for "virtual model railroading." But we're going to let it stand for "virtual model railway" since it goes a little bit better with journal, as in Virtual Model Railway Journal.

"Journal," according to the dictionary, is defined as a daily recording of events. This journal will be more like a monthly recording, and it won't be strictly a recording of events. It will be a recording of events as well as thoughts, ideas, discoveries, mini reviews, and whatever else is on our minds and we think will be interesting and useful for the virtual model railroader. And, by the way, "train simmer" is an acceptable term for those who prefer not to include "model" in their virtual endeavors. We won't discriminate on such things.
